Fashion students were challenged to design a commercial fashion print for the Young Textile Designer of the Year Award 2009. The winner to be selected by the fashion industry’s elite will have its design used on a prom dress produced by Lagenes and sold exclusively in New Look stores across the UK. Besides a feature in Drapers Magazine, the victor will receive £1000 prize money.
The shortlist has been selected from a great number of submissions by a jury composed of specialists from the New Look, Lagenes and Clothes Show teams to compete at the Clothes Show London award ceremony at London’s ExCeL on Saturday 30 May at 12:30pm. Watched by 2,500 fashion fans, the victorious dress will be showed by three top models, which will be styled differently. The styles will vary for work, weekend and evening to demonstrate the dress its versatility and to inspire the audience.

“The standard of the short-listed designs is evidence of the calibre of young fashion and textile design talent we have in the UK. Clothes Show London is proud to be providing a platform through this new initiative for these emerging textile designers to receive industry recognition and to launch themselves into the mainstream.” comments Gavin Brown, Managing Director of Haymarket Exhibitions Ltd.
