Los Angeles - It looks like American Apparel is finally getting a handle on things. Settling down after filing for bankruptcy and undergoing major struggles, the Los Angeles-based retailer just named a new chairman for their board. Embarking American Apparel on a new journey business-wise, Paul Charron takes the executive role as the company’s newest chairman.

Charron is no stranger to working in a high-profile role. Previously, he worked at Liz Claiborne until 2006 as chairman and also as chief executive officer. The skills acquired from his work at the prestigious fashion company more than qualify him to undertake American Apparel’s new future. In addition to Charron, Susan Davidson will also join the Los Angeles-based company. Davidson also worked previously at Claiborne and currently runs fashion company Scoop as well as the Zac Posen design house. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, Bruce Fetter will also serve as a new member of the company. According to a letter obtained by the publication, the retailer will enter “a new phase as a privately held company.”

American Apparel adds three new team members to company

This could mean a couple of different things for American Apparel. In the last year, it was hard for the retailer. The company underwent financial woes, shuttered over a dozen stores, and also organized a restructuring plan. After ups and downs, the company was finally able to turn itself around with an approved business plan. Now in its first final phase of a comeback, these new team members are vital to help American Apparel regain its stance in the fashion world.

Although the changes to the board mark American Apparel’s attempt to revive itself after having emerged from bankruptcy just last month, there’s no telling whether the company will be successful in the near future. With Davidson and Charron will be new additions to the team, current chief executive officer Paul Schneider will also hold a position at the board. Currently, Dov Charney is still not affiliated with the company. While American Apparel was going through its changes however, he did attempt to takeover the company with a couple of proposals teaming with various investors and business partners.
