Retail and leisure destination Braehead, owned by property company SGS and managed by Global Mutual in conjunction with Savills as property managers, has appointed Ashley Bisland as centre director.

Located just outside Glasgow, Braehead covers 1.1 million square feet and is home to brands, including M&S, Primark, TK Maxx and Next.

Bisland first joined the Braehead team in December 2022 as deputy centre director, with over 12 years of experience at Savills – specialising in shopping centre management, and has been successfully managing the site since February 2024.

Rachel Scott, asset manager at Global Mutual, said in a statement: “We are delighted to announce Ashley’s appointment as centre director. She has been an invaluable member of the team over the last two years and is passionate about Braehead’s success.

“Ashley understands the changing face of retail, the importance of building strong brand relationships and how to provide the best possible shopper experience. We look forward to continuing to work with Ashley in her new role as we drive our plans for the centre forward.”

Saagar Sachdev, director at Savills, added: “Ashley’s appointment comes at a great time. Braehead has had a solid start to the year - with a number of leasing deals announced and more in the pipeline – reflecting the strength of demand for prime retail and leisure space. We look forward to working with Ashley to build on this momentum in the months ahead.

“The retail landscape continues to be shift but we have an incredibly strong management team in place – who together understand what brands need to thrive, what customers want and how to adapt quickly as this changes.”
