American fashion brand Buscemi has named Mike Amiri as head designer of ready-to-wear and accessories, as the luxury label looks to expand its offering.

Amiri, who has more than 10 years of experience working with luxury goods including working with luxury retailer Maxfield, will be working alongside Buscemi brand founder and creative director, Jon Buscemi, to further develop new product categories and collaborations. The new categories will include handbags, backpacks, belts, headwear and ready-to-wear.

Commenting on his appointment, Amiri said: "Buscemi is the first label to really take credible street wear product into the luxury forum. The freedom to develop products for a brand that sits alongside heritage luxury fashion houses is what really excited me about this role.”

Buscemi, added: "I have been a fan of Mike's work for years now and can't think of a better addition to our family. The best part is that we challenge each other in design and work as a collective. We are very happy to have him aboard.”

Amiri's debut collection will be for the spring 2015 accessories category and will be available at Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Barneys, Neiman Marcus and Maxfield. He will also remain as creative director of his namesake label which he launched in 2013 in partnership with Maxfield.
