New York-based fashion label Carolina Herrera has named Francois Kress, who was most recently global president of Stuart Weitzman, as its new chief executive officer.

Kress assumes some of the responsibilities previously handled by Caroline Brown, who resigned as president in September to become CEO of Donna Karan International, and will be based in the New York office. He will report into Jose Manuel Albesa, chief brand officer for Carolina Herrera’s parent company Puig.

Before joining Stuart Weitzman, Kress held numerous senior fashion roles, including chief operating officer at The Row, president and CEO of Prada for North and South America, and president of Fendi North America.

Commenting on the appointment, Albesa said: “We look forward to Francois joining the team, bringing his broad knowledge and expertise in luxury fashion to lead Carolina Herrera in achieving the next stage of growth.”
