Cédric Charbit is appointed CEO of Balenciaga

London - Kering has announced the appointment of Cédric Charbit as Chief Executive Officer of French fashion house Balenciaga, effective 28 November 2016.
In his new role, the 39 year old will be reportedly directly to François-Henri Pinault, chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Balenciaga's parent company, Kering. As CEO of Balenciaga, he has been tasked with supporting the fashion houses's ongoing development and further accelerating its plans for international growth.
Charbit is set to succeed Isabelle Guichot, who has been called on "to take new responsibilities within the Kering Group," according to a press release. More details on her new role within the luxury conglomerate will be released at a later date. Guichot, who has led Balenciaga for the past nine years, has been credited for her fundamental role in the fashion house's growth and expansion as well as contributing to raising Balenciaga reputation on a global scale.
A French nation, Charbit first started his career within the fashion industry as a buyer for the luxury department of Printemps in 2001. In 2009, he was named associate purchasing director of Pucci in Italy, before joining the team at Yves Saint Laurent in 2012 as product strategy director and then merchandising director. In May 2016, he was named executive vice president product and marketing at Yves Saint Laurent.
