Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran to leave Uniqlo

For ten years, Uniqlo customers have been delighted by their timeless and soft clothing. This season, Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran are designing their final collection for the fast fashion brand.

Since 2016, the designers of the luxury label Lemaire have been creating menswear and womenswear collections for Uniqlo, comprising the “fundamentals of the contemporary wardrobe”. Today, the partnership is ending, but the line they created will continue. “As this first chapter closes, Uniqlo U will continue to evolve and open a new page in its history,” the brand stated in a press release sent to FashionUnited.

“Working with Uniqlo and building the Uniqlo U team and concept together has been an exciting adventure,” said Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran. “We see this project as a great success, a dream come true: offering quality, stylish everyday clothing to the widest possible audience. We have always admired Mr. Yanai's vision and his LifeWear and Made For All philosophy, which we believe is the opposite of fast fashion principles. It was therefore a real honour to be invited to join his creative family.”

The designers said they have “learned a great deal from the remarkable design and development teams, observing the very Japanese passion for quality and the constant search for perfection and improvement.” They consider these ten years to be one of the most significant chapters of their design careers.

The reason for their departure is the growth of their own brand, Lemaire. According to an article in Le Monde, the company surpassed 100 million euros in sales in 2024, and Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran now intend to focus on its development.

Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh's final collection for Uniqlo is for the autumn/winter 2026 season and will be available from September 11, 2026.
