Footwear retailer Clarks has named former director of International Operations at Marks & Spencer's as its new Chief Commercial Officer.

Finlan has been tasked with boosting the label's commercial performance across all of Clarks international and national markets in his new role, which he began earlier this week.

“This is a world-class company with a strong heritage and exciting growth prospects globally. I look forward to being part of the next chapter in the story of this unique and much-loved brand,” said Finlan on joining Clarks.

He will be working closely along with Clarks current COO, Ken Donbinson, who is exiting the position on January 31, 2015 in order to spend more time with his family.

“Ken has been a fantastic member of the Clarks team, a great partner to work with and a huge part of our success story. Over his impressive 28 years with the company, his contribution to the growth and continued success of the business has been invaluable,” commented Melissa Potter, chief executive of Clarks to Drapers.

“Steve’s strong track record at some of the world’s most successful brands combined with his in-depth knowledge of the retail industry globally will be a huge asset for Clarks,” she added.
