New York - Cleto Sagripanti now has a new job to add his resume. The highly lauded fashion businessman is now president of the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry. In addition to his new role, Sagripanti also serves as the president of Assocalzaturifici footwear trade association and the Micam shoe fair in Milan.
Sagripanti is taking over the presidency from Jean-Pierre Renaudin, president of the Fédération Française de la Chaussure, who will be focusing on the latter mentioned position full-time. “As president of the CEC, I will certainly continue the international initiatives undertaken by Jean-Pierre, trying to consolidate the strength and unity of European companies,” Sagripanti said in a statement, elaborating: “To that effect, I will work to support Europe’s re-shoring strategies, to promote equal, competitive access to markets and a better legislative setting for our small- and medium-sized firms."
Sagripanti's claim to fame is his advocacy for mandatory product of original labeling in Europe, one of the hottest contested issues in footwear. He is certainly a man that will attempt to inspire change, so things could certainly be shaking up in the European footwear industry. Labeling could become the next hot button issue in footwear.
