In a move that caught many in the fashion industry off guard, Daniel Kearns, artistic director of high end specialty brand Faconnable, has left his position at the company. His departure was confirmed last Friday by Women's Wear Daily, but, he has yet to offer any comment on the matter. Kearns joined the company in 2013, and only showed three collections, but, he managed to have quite an impact during that time.

He elevated the brand to a more sophisticated tier, and gave it a much classier aesthetic, thus making Faconnable a force to be reckoned with in the specialty store category. Under Kearns, Faconnable garnered the attention of many international media outlets, and began to really get attention from the fashion industry. Just last October, Kearns earned high praise for his capsule collection based on the late artist Jean Cocteau.

The Cocteau inspired collection was the first in a series that was meant to showcase Faconnable's French Riviera heritage. Faconnable's may have had some great collections lately, but, there has been signs of unpleasantness at the company. Last month, managing director Ludovic Le Gourrierec also left the company.

Faconnable is in the middle of a major restructuring, but, a restructuring shouldn't come at the cost of such qualified employees. Before taking over the artistic reins at Faconnable, Kearns designed for men's wear brands, including Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, and John Galliano. While his departure from Faconnable was unfortunate, with a resume like his someone should scoop him up in no time.
