London - Danielle Sherman, co-founder of the Row, has resigned from her role as Creative Director for ethical fashion house Edun. Sherman, who was first appointed to the role three years ago, is said to have exit the company to pursue other career opportunities.
Edun, the fashion brand founded by Ali Hewson and her husband Bono in 2005, aims to encourage the apparel industry in Africa. The New York-based fashion house focuses on creating long-term, sustainable growth opportunities by supporting manufacturers, community focused initiatives and partners with African artists.
"What Edun has achieved over the past three years represents an important step, with a new vocabulary and a real dynamic for the future," said Hewson in a statement, according to WWD. "I am very grateful to Danielle for her valuable contribution, and for elevating the conversation about ethical fashion." Edun has begun its search for her successor.
Sherman joined the team at Edun in 2013, when she succeeded former creative director Sharon Wauchob. Prior to that, she was the design director of T by Alexander Wang and cofounded the Row with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. During her time at Edun, she has been credited with increasing the percentage of the collection manufacturer in Africa to over 95 percent.
