Fit preference specialist Fits.me has strengthened and reorganised its highest levels of management to bolster its executive team to optimise for international expansion following its summer acquisition by Rakuten, Inc.
Former CEO James Gambrell has appointed Fits.me’s former chief operating officer Stuart Simms to replace him as chief executive officer, while Gambrell himself moves into the newly created position of executive chairman. These changes the company states provides the additional “executive capacity” needed to support the company’s rapid post-Rakuten expansion, growth objectives and global ambitions.
Simms will take over former CEO Gambrell’s current role in its entirety, overseeing all day-to-day aspects of the business including commercial and client operations, sales and marketing, product and finance. He also joins the Fits.me Board of Directors and will report into the executive chairman.
Gambrell will assume responsibility for delivering the foundations for international expansion in North America and Asia, including nurturing Fits.me’s relationships across Rakuten entities, and for developing strategic partnerships and technology to support the company’s growth.
Commenting on the executive team changes, Gambrell said: “This is a brilliant appointment, Stuart substantially increases the executive management capacity of Fits.me and will enable us to accelerate the delivery of the significant growth opportunities that result from being part of the Rakuten family.”
Simms added: “Rakuten presents a fantastic opportunity for Fits.me to fulfil its potential and continue its market leadership. Today’s division of responsibilities plays to our respective strengths and gives us the focus and bench strength which will help us to meet ambitious goals and hit our targets.”
