Gerry Weber founder Udo Hardieck dies at the age of 74

Gerry Weber International AG announced this morning that the company’s founder, Udo Hardieck passed away yesterday, June 11 at the age of 74 due to a serious illness. Hardieck, with Gerhard Weber, created the internationally listed fashion group, originally named Hatex KG, in 1973.

Gerhard Weber and Ralf Weber, CEO of GERRY WEBER International AG said in a statement: "On behalf of the company, the Management Board and the Supervisory Board, we express our deep regret and condolences. The loss of Udo Hardieck has upset us deeply. Our thoughts and the staff are with his family, especially with his wife Elke Hardieck and the children. We reserve Udo Hardieck as our founder, as an investor and as an exceptional entrepreneurs to the guests. Until the end, he stood us as a wise counselor, reliable partner and longtime friend to the side. "

The group later changed its name to Gerry Weber International AG after being listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in 1989. Today, the German-based company employs 7,000 people in more than 60 countries worldwide and is one of the largest German apparel companies in history.
