British duffle coat brand Gloverall has appointed former Lyle and Scott managing director Derrick Campbell as its new chief executive, as it looks to continue making the brand “relevant”.
Campbell joins the brand, famous for its coats, with immediate effect and brings with him his experience from Scottish heritage brand Lyle and Scott, where he served as managing director from 2005 to 2013 helping to restructure the business.
Commenting on his appointment, Campbell said: “Brands succeed today because of people with vision and ability, the commitment to make it happen. I am immensely proud to have been chosen as the CEO at Gloverall, working with the engaged and energetic team as we continue to make the brand relevant.”
Gloverall’s Andrew Kwon added: “Derrick Campbell has a proven track record in turnaround management and brand development. The business undertook an extensive search, before appointing Derrick. We are delighted to have him on board running the business from our London office and showroom. His extensive experience will be an invaluable addition to the existing team.”
Founded in 1954 by Harold Morris and his wife Freda, Gloverall originally began by producing work wear such as gloves and overalls. It was following the Second World War that the business acquired a large batch of ex-Navy surplus duffle coats, which it started selling before deciding to product its own.
