Independent East London retailer, Goodhood, has named former Liberty chief executive Iain Renwick as its first non-executive director.

Renwick who was chief executive of Liberty from 2002 to 2008, marks Goodhood’s first external appointment to its board, in a move to reinforce the independent retailer’s senior management team and support future growth plans and expansion.

Goodhood co-founder, Jo Sindle, said in a statement: “We are thrilled to welcome Iain to join the Goodhood team. His wealth of retail experience and business knowledge will be instrumental in helping us achieve our growth plans.

“Our ambitions for Goodhood are huge and varied and this is the first step into the next phase of our business journey. We are both really excited about the next 5 years, the ideas are endless and with Iain’s help we will be able to make our ideas into realities.”

Renwick added: “It is very invigorating for me to be joining Goodhood at this key moment to help define its unique global growth priorities. I have rarely come across a more exciting retail opportunity in the UK as Jo and Kyle. The brilliant founding partners offer a fresh and rarely found approach to retail by offering a curated lifestyle for the independent minded with a spirit that captures street fashion as it’s happening right now.

“I feel that if Arthur Liberty, the revolutionary retailer of his times, were alive today he would be doing exactly what Goodhood is by creating and building from their east London base a new branded retail multi-channel concept that is becoming a true leader for a new generation.”

Founded in 2007 by Sindle and Kyle Stewart, Goodhood is located on Curtain Street in Shoreditch, and sells more than 200 brands across menswear, womenswear, lifestyle and cosmetics.
