J.Crew lays off insensitive Vice President

London - Following J.Crew most recent and public decision to cut 175 jobs, the American retailer has reportedly let go of its vice president of men's merchandising, Alejandro Rhett, after he posted a number of celebratory images on Instagram which depicted him rejoicing his survival of the staff cut with fellow employees.

His dismissal comes after several members of his team where let go. Although the posts have since been deleted from his account, they reportedly showed Rhett posing alongside other J.Crew members of staff, Julie Stamon, Vanessa de Jesus and Andrew Ruth, the label's men's merchandiser with hashtags such as #hungergames and #maytheoddsbeeverinyourfavour, which refer to the Hunger Games movie franchise theme 'kill or be killed.'

Although a company spokesperson declined to confirmed Rhett's direct dismissal, they made a statement in response to his behaviour. "We do not condone this behaviour in any way," said a spokesperson to Vogue UK. "Individuals' actions do not represent the culture of our company - this is not who we are. The tough decisions we made last week were not something we took lightly. We do our best to make decisions with care and compassion for all of our associates."
