New York - Jamee King has been tapped by Prabal Gurung to be the brand's senior vice president of global sales. This is a new position that has been created at the company.

King will begin next Tuesday, March 1, and will report directly to Gurung.

King arrives at Prabal Gurung with an extensive list of experiences. For the past two and a half years, she has run her own brand management consulting firm, JBK Consulting. Her firm has worked with brands such as J. Press York Street, The Eighth, Harve Benard, and Hickey Freeman. Earlier in her career, she was senior vice president of Armani Collezioni, Armani Jeans, Armani Junior, and Emporio Armani intimates. She has also served as vice president of sales at True Religion.

For Gurung, growing his business has become a top priority for his eponymous contemporary label. Last November, it was announced that the company was seeking an investor to help them grow. While his collection last September received mixed reviews, his most recent collection at New York Fashion Week received stellar reviews and he emphasized his strengths in the evening wear category with garments like a lurex coupe dresses and black and white gowns.

The CFDA Award winning designer who launched his label in 2009 has been seeing increasing growth and media attention. His clientele list has grown to include the likes of Tina Fey and Laverne Cox. Sarah Jessica Parker and First Lady Michelle Obama have also been known to deck themselves out in his designs.
