Kering, the luxury conglomerate that owns brands including Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Gucci, has named Todd Hymel as chief executive of action sports brands.
The newly created position will see Hymel responsible for establishing a “stronger group presence in the US”, particularly on the West Coast, while taking on a more active role in the development, expansion and performance of the Volcom and Electric brands worldwide. The chief executives of each brand will report directly to Hymel.
Hymel, who joined Kering in 2008 as deputy director of mergers and acquisitions, was most recently chief operating officer of Kering sport and lifestyle division. He has also served as a member of the administrative board of Puma since April 2012.
He will be based in Costa Mesa in California and will continue to report directly to group managing director Jean-François Palus in his new role.
