Matchesfashion.com taps Richard Johnson as Commercial Director

Industry expert Richard Johnson has joined the team at Matchesfashion.com as commerical director. He is set to oversee the company's global buying team across both womenswear and menswear and focus on brand relationships, and will be reporting directly to exectuive chairman and founder of Matchesfashion.com, Tom Chapman.
"We are delighted to have Richard join us and help further connect buying and merchandising with our technology, e-commerce and content teams in order to drive the roadmap of global growth and continue to inspire our customers," said Chapman on Johnson appointment.
Prior to joining the team at Matchesfashion.com, Johnson served as the vice president for fashion buying at Middle Eastern retail company Al Tayer Group, where he over saw the ongoing development of the menswear and womenswear offer at Bloomingdale's and Harvey Nichols in Dubai. Before he joined the group at Al Tayer in September 2012, he was the buying controller for menswear at Harvey Nichols in the UK.
During this period he also worked together with the British Fashion Council, where he mentored Jonathan Anderson, Christopher Raeburn and James Long during the early phases of their careers.
