UK fashion and homeware digital retail platform N Brown Group has appointed Richard Price as an independent non-executive director to strengthen its leadership expertise and support long-term growth strategies.
Price brings more than 35 years of experience across the UK retail sector, with specialized expertise in fashion, clothing, and home sectors. He most recently served as managing director of clothing, home and beauty at Marks & Spencer (M&S), where he oversaw the transformation of the division, revitalised product propositions, and strengthened financial performance.
Prior to his role at M&S, Price was chief executive officer at F&F Clothing, the 1.7 billion pound international clothing business owned by Tesco. He has also held senior leadership positions at retail brands BHS and Next, acquiring extensive expertise across product management, merchandising, trading, and customer proposition strategy.
Strategic leadership transitions
Subject to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) approval, Price will succeed Ash Piranie as chair of the remuneration committee. Piranie will transition to the role of senior independent director while retaining his position as chair of the audit and risk committee.
In parallel leadership shifts, Malcolm Le May, who has served as chair since March 2026, has assumed the role of executive chair. The change reflects Le May’s active involvement in operational guidance as N Brown Group continues its corporate transformation. In this position, Le May will focus on financial strategy, collaborating with chief executive officer Dan Joy and the executive management team.
The board restructuring follows the recent appointment of Zoe Matthews as managing director of retail, further expanding the group’s senior transformation capabilities.
“Richard is an exceptional addition to the N Brown board,” said Le May. “He has spent his career at the forefront of UK retail, with a proven ability to transform major businesses by sharpening their product proposition, strengthening commercial performance and navigating periods of significant change. That experience is highly relevant to N Brown as we continue the transformation of the business.”
Commenting on his appointment, Price added: “N Brown has a distinctive position in UK retail, built on a deep understanding of its customers and brands that have served them for generations. There is a real opportunity to build on those strengths while continuing to evolve the proposition for how customers want to shop today.”
