Luxury online retailer Net-a-Porter.com has appointed Sarah Rutson as its Vice President of Global Buying, effective from January 12, 2015.

The former fashion director at Lane Crawford in Hong Kong will be based from the etailer offices in New York and is set to report directly to the president of Net-a-porter, Alison Loehnis. “As we look to further penetrate our core markets and grow our global customer base, our buy will remain a key differentiator,” said Loehnis on the company's newest hire to WWD.

“With her years of experience in the luxury fashion business in both Europe and Asia, Sarah is uniquely positioned to lead our global buying team. An area of focus will be on expanding the designers and brands we stock to offer our customer everything she could need.”

Rutson added that she looks forward to taking on “the challenge of understanding different customer needs and desires in [the] over 170 countries” that Net-a-porter currently operates in.
