New York - Could Ferragamo be adding a new creative director? It has been reported that Paul Andrew is in consideration to be the brand's first creative director dedicated specifically to footwear. The report first broke on WWD, and another story followed this morning on Sunday World saying that Andrew was "a shoo-in" for the creative director job.

Andrew is already a very busy man. In addition to designing his own line, which includes men's and women's, he also consults on shoe designs for Via Spiga and Theory.

Before launching his own eponymous label, Andrew honed his talent at Donna Karan, where he spent about a decade. In addition to his experience at Donna Karan, Andrew also held titles at Calvin Klein and Narciso Rodriguez.

His eponymous label started off as women's only, and became known for their simple, feminine, and comfortable silhouettes. Last fall, the line expanded into doing men's wear. In 2014, Andrew won the Vogue/CFDA Award Fashion Fund, as well as the Swarovski Award for emerging designer talent in accessories.

Neither Ferragamo or Andrew have commented on this issue.

Ferragamo has been in an interesting transition phase. Chief executive officer Michele Norsa left her post earlier this month, and was replaced by Furla ceo Eralda Poletto.

Creative director Massimiliano Giornetti also departed the label in March after 16 years with the company. Ferragamo has not named his successor.

Ferragamo's profits have continued to do well, however. The company posted a 2.3 percent increase in net profit of 90 million euros up from 88 million euros at this period last year.

The company is also expanding their store presence with a store scheduled to open in Las Vegas on September 9.
