Pierre-Alexis Dumas named president of Paris museum

Hermès artistic director Pierre-Alexis Dumas has been elected president of Paris museum Les Arts Décoratifs, which holds high-profile fashion exhibitions, including a recent look at the Korean fashion.

Dumas succeeds Bruno Rogers, who was elected in 2013 and chose not to renew his mandate, and will take up his new role on January 1, alongside his duties at Hermès.

Les Arts Décoratifs is marking the 30th anniversary of its fashion collections in 2016, which will be celebrated with an exhibition featuring more than 300 pieces of men’s, women’s and children’s fashion from the 18th century to today from the museum’s archives. Fashion Forward, Three Centuries of Fashion will open April 7 and run to August 14, 2016.

The museum’s fashion collection comprises of more than 150,000 items, ranging from ancient textiles and outfits to haute couture and ready-to-wear creations, accessories, drawings, photographs and archives of such designers as such as Elsa Schiaparelli, Madeleine Vionnet and Cristobal Balenciaga.
