Porsche Design has named Pierre Costin as its new creative director "effective immediately”. The announcement comes as the fashion house showcased its autumn/winter 2016 collection at Berlin Fashion Week, which marked the first collection designed by Costin.

Costin, who has previously worked at Ralph Lauren, Rachel Zoe, and Kenneth Cole, succeeds Thomas Steinbrück, who left the German luxury fashion brand last year to oversee Berlin-based label Liebeskind.

The Parsons School of Design graduate has been with Porsche Design for several years as a senior designer in the fashion division, and in his new role overseeing the creative direction of the brand he will continue to be based in Berlin at the fashion houses’ headquarters.

“Design sporty elegance, high quality and performance: basically, the same values of success of Porsche cars, are translated in our fashion brands,” said Costin. "A challenge that I face with enthusiasm and great respect for the heritage of this company.”
