Puma: Chief commercial officer Matthias Bäumer to leave executive board

Matthias Bäumer, chief commercial officer (CCO) at Puma, is stepping down from his role on the executive board at the end of the month.

Bäumer has decided to take this step for “personal reasons”, Puma announced on Friday. His term will end on September 30. His responsibilities as head of sales and head of subsidiaries will be temporarily taken over by Puma's chief executive officer (CEO) Arthur Hoeld. A successor will be announced at a later date.

Bäumer has been with the German sporting goods group for almost 20 years. He joined the company in 2007 as sales director for the German, Belgian, Dutch and Luxembourg markets. Two years later, he took over as general manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH), a position he held for ten years. He was then responsible for the global Teamsport business unit. After leaving the executive board, he will continue to work for Puma in an advisory capacity and will represent the company on the supervisory board of the football club Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA.

“I would like to thank Matthias for his commitment to the brand, which he has shown in various roles within the company, and for his contribution to our three-year transformation process,” said Hoeld. “I am very pleased that he has agreed to continue to support us as a consultant.”

Bäumer was only appointed to the executive board in April 2025. His departure after around 18 months is the fourth change to the management team in a year and a half. This follows the change from Arne Freundt to Hoeld at the head of the group; the appointment of Andreas Hubert as chief operating officer (COO) in September 2025; and the change from Markus Neubrand to Mark Langer as chief financial officer (CFO) on May 1.

From October, the Puma executive board will consist of CEO Hoeld, CFO Langer, chief brand officer Maria Valdes and COO Hubert.
