High street fashion retailer River Island has named Nicholas Tahir as its Head of Menswear Buying. He replaces Fiona Frith, who left her role at the retailer earlier this year to join the team at Mr Porter as menswear Buying Director.
Tahir joins the team at River Island from Tesco’s fashion label F&F, where he most recently served as Head of Global Menswear. Prior to working at Tesco’s, he was Men’s Buying Controller at Primark and has also held comes at TK Maxx and Burton. His appointment at River Island is part of the fashion retailer ongoing scheme to drive it menswear segment, expand the category and increase market share.
“I am delighted to be joining one of the best fashion retailers on the high street. It’s truly an exciting time to be leading the menswear division, some of the finest talent in the industry,” said Tahir on his new appointment. “I’m very much looking forward to implementing the new global strategy and harnessing the true potential of River Island’s menswear, cementing our position as designer of the high street.”
