Sam Lobban named VP, men’s designer and new concepts at Nordstrom

Its been just two months since Nordstorm opened its debut menswear store in New York and not the company has roped in ex-Mr Porter executive Sam Lobban as Vice President of men’s designer and new concepts, reports WWD. Lobban will report to Pete Nordstrom, Co-President of Nordstrom, and work with Paige Thomas, Executive Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of men’s wear.

Nordstrom spokesperson has confirmed this development. The report added quoting Nordstrom that the new position is intended to “evolve the retailer’s men’s business,” and will support men’s merchandising, marketing, content development, store environment, private label and the shopping experience as it relates to men’s wear.

Before taking up his new role at Nordstrom, Lobban served as buying manager for Mr Porter and has been associated with the men’s division of Net-a-porter for almost seven years, starting as a member of the launch team. He was later appointed senior buyer and buyer at the company.

The report further added that during his stint at Net-A-Porter, he was responsible for securing capsule collections from luxury labels such as Gucci, Prada and Balenciaga and devised the “Made in California” set of capsule collections of 12 brands including Amiri and Noon Goons, Rick Owens, The Elder Statesman, Stussy and John Elliott. He also successfully brought labels like Nike Inc. including NikeLab, Off-White, Fear of God and Visvim under the Mr Porter portfolio and launched new categories such as “Performance Sport” and “Japanese Designers”, with the former having 40 brands and latter 25 brands under their fold. Lobban began his career at Selfridges & Co.
