The fashion world was practically praising the gods of every major religion and myth when Schiaparelli announced that they would be reviving the legendary fashion house founded by the woman who once dressed Jacqueline Kennedy. However, reviving the fashion house got off to a rocky start, and former design director Marco Zanini received mixed reviews for his first runway collection. Zanini in a state of dissatisfaction left the fashion house last fall, and since then the house has been looking for a new design director.

Rumors circulated all throughout Paris Fashion Week that a replacement was in the works, but, it has finally be confirmed. They have hired Bertrand Guyon to take over the design helm of both the pret-a-couture and haute couture collections. While Guyon might not be a name that everyone would recognize easily, he has more than his share of design credentials. He has worked as a designer for Valentino, and he is also a graduate of the elite Ecole de la Chambre de Synicale de la Couture Parisienne.

In addition, he has also worked at Christian Lacroix and Givenchy. In regards to his new position, Guyon released a statement saying, "Elsa Schiaparelli is an enchanting couture house. I have always been fascinated by its exceptional legacy, its luminous and intimate story, its quirky and poetic world, its ultimate chic and its endless creativity. I feel honored to be part of Schiaparelli today and develop it further, respecting its heritage and tradition while adding a contemporary and modern take, something Elsa Schiaparelli has always demonstrated." His first collection will debut in July, and it will be very exciting to see what he brings to the formidable fashion house.
