Splendid names Holly Shapiro new creative director

Womenswear brand Splendid announced the appointment of Holly Shapiro to the role of Creative Director today. Shapiro is taking over from Pamela Protzel-Scott, who held the role for over 17 years and will stay on as a consultant.
As a Creative Director of private brands for Gilt Groupe, Shapiro had been responsible for numerous categories across apparel, footwear and accessories. Throughout her 20-year career, Shapiro also held creative roles within Haute Hippie, martin + Osa, Liz Claiborne, Calypso St. Barth and Dana Buchman.
In her new role with Splendid, Shapiro plans to expand the brand and look to new areas for growth.
"Holly is both a creative designer and proven leader who will bring fresh, new product strategies and perspective to modernize the splendid brand," CEO of parent company Delta Galil Industries, Tim Baxter, said in a statement. "Her expertise in curating product... will be instrumental in repositioning Splendid to accelerate growth."
Splendid was founded 15 years ago with a line of premium soft T-shirts, and currently offers multiple categories in womenswear including apparel, footwear and accessories. It also has menswear and children's lines. The brand operates its own DTC business online and through physical stores, and is available from retailers including Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Anthropologie.
