Online retail giant Amazon has said that it has seen its Sunday deliveries grow by more than four times in the last year, showing how shopping habits continue to change.

The increase in Sunday deliveries has been made possible, the online retailer claims, after it took control of its own distribution network via Amazon Logistics, a technology and logistics platform that utilises independent local, regional and national delivery companies across the UK to deliver Amazon parcels to customers seven days a week.

Sunday deliveries are now available in 15 cities and towns across the UK and the service is free for Amazon Prime members, who receive unlimited one-day delivery.

Jamie Stephenson, UK director for Amazon Logistics, said: “We’re excited that so many customers are taking advantage of Sunday delivery and that so many local and regional delivery companies continue to join the Amazon Logistics platform.

“And this is just the beginning – we recently opened a new delivery station in Glasgow and we hope to expand even further in the future.”

Amazon’s Sunday delivery option is just one of the many ways its customers can receive their goods, as they can also collect their items from over 16,000 pick-up locations, which includes more than 10,500 Post Office branches. Deliveries made to Amazon pickup locations have more than tripled in the last year, showcasing that customers demand convenient options when shopping online.
