Online giant Amazon is expecting this December 25 to be its busiest Christmas Day yet. Sales on Amazon have grown more than six-fold over the past five years, according to the online retailer, and it’s expecting another bumper year as people look to pick up Christmas bargains.
Amazon is expecting orders to peak around 8.52pm on Christmas Day when shoppers are relaxing in front of the TV whilst looking for bargains to pick up in the Boxing Day sales, which this year will start on Christmas Eve.
“A closer look at the hour by hour trends on December 25 gives us a real insight into how the UK spends Christmas Day - from saving the day with a last minute Gift Card to grabbing a bargain in the sale,” said Jay Marine, vice president of Amazon Video EU. “This year, we’ll be launching Boxing Day Deals Week at 4pm on Christmas Eve and with the sales running until 31st December, there’s plenty of time to get a great deal from the comfort of your sofa.”
Amazon is offering more than 5,000 deals from Christmas Eve to December 31 as part of its Boxing Day Deals Week, and Amazon Prime customers will have 30-minute early access to all the ‘Lightning Deals’.
