London-based marketplace for short-term retail, Appear Here, is expanding its operations internationally, starting with Paris.

Founded in 2013, by the 20-year-old CEO Ross Bailey, Appear Here’s mission is "to build a global network of spaces” to enable retailers to “make their ideas happen”. The service has been used by over 15,000 brands including big brands such as Net-a-Porter, LVMH and Apple, as well as independent designers and start-ups, including Finery London. In London alone, Appear Here has launched over 2,500 pop-ups.

Commenting on why Paris, Bailey said: “Paris has always been one of my favourite cities – there’s nothing better than simply wandering round its streets and taking it all in. But I was surprised to learn how hard it is for young brands and designers to get access to space in this city.

“We've even had Parisian brands launch ideas with us in London because they couldn't in Paris. That’s when I realised Appear Here could really make a difference.”

Appear Here expands pop-up marketplace to Paris

To celebrate its first international launch, Appear Here is opening a pop-up store for Paris Fashion Week called the ‘Appear Here Collection’. It will sell a selection of the best emerging fashion, accessories and lifestyle brands from the Appear Here community based in London and Paris, and will also hold a series of events and workshops.

Brands in the shop include ATT Pynta, Julia McLearon, La Claque, Labour of Love, Maison Artilion, Six et Sept, Sur Studio, Suitcase Magazine and Wonderluk. The pop-up is located on Rue de Turenne and will be open on March 3-12.

Bailey added: “To build our community in Paris, we’ve created a place where people can come to shop, eat, drink and discover more about Appear Here and the amazing brands that use us. We’re so excited to bring together some of our favourite brands from these two cities under one roof.”

The pop-up marketplace aims to grow in Paris by mirroring the success in London and is focusing on listing the spaces in the best retail destinations, including Marais and Saint Germain. The brand has also received a lot of demand, it has already signed up nearly 1,000 brands and retailers to its Appear Here’s French website.

In the UK, Appear Here has played a significant role in driving the pop-up retail industry, which is now valued at 2.3 billion pounds. It currently lists spaces in some of the UK’s top retail destinations and cities including, Bath, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and stores such as Topshop’s global flagship store on Oxford Circus, London.
