Carmina Shoemaker expands into standalone retail in Germany with Munich opening

Spanish artisanal footwear brand Carmina Shoemaker (Carmina) has opened its first standalone store in Germany in Munich, a move that strengthens its presence in one of its primary European markets. The 55-square-metre retail space brings to fruition the project that the Majorcan company had been announcing since last June.

Until now, the brand had reached the German market through multi-brand stores and stockists in cities such as Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart. This commercial presence allowed Carmina to connect with local consumers, who are also regular customers in Majorca. According to the company, these shoppers had been expressing interest in a dedicated brand space in Germany for years, a demand now met with the Munich opening.

Continuing a family shoemaking tradition established in 1,866, Carmina keeps all of its production in the Majorcan town of Inca, where it manufactures its footwear using artisanal processes.

According to a company statement, the choice of Munich reflects Bavaria's affinity with Carmina's offering, particularly due to the region's tailoring heritage and its appreciation for craftsmanship and quality footwear. This local connection is also reflected in the store concept, which houses the brand's collections and offers access to its made-to-order service, complete with direct customer consultations.

In addition to retailing its collections, Carmina plans to host gatherings and events at the boutique to introduce the German public to its bespoke footwear service, one of the lines through which it aims to strengthen its positioning in this market.

The Munich opening marks the company's second international launch in 2,026, following its arrival in Tokyo last July, where it inaugurated its first store in Japan. Both openings form part of its expansion plan, which projects between two and three new stores per year until 2,030, with a particular focus on Central European markets such as Germany and Switzerland.

With the addition of Munich, Carmina expands a standalone retail network that already spans cities including Madrid, Paris, London, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo. This structure operates alongside a multi-brand distribution network that retails its collections across 15 countries.
