Cath Kidston opens first store in India

Fashion and lifestyle brand Cath Kidston has opened its first store in India, marking its first entry into the country.

Opening in Delhi, India on Ambience Gurgaon this week, the store marks the first of a number of stores set to open across India in the next few years.

The move follows a franchise agreement signed earlier this year between Cath Kidson and Planet Retail Holding. Another store is set to open in Delhi in Select City Walk, as well as one planned in Mumbai, in the City’s Grand Galleria before the end of the year.

Commenting on the openings, Kenny Wilson, chief executive of Cath Kidston, said: “The new store opening in India marks an important step in our overseas expansion. India is a very important market for us. Our customers in India have been able to buy our clothing, accessories, and homeware online for some time now and I am really pleased that we are able to now provide the actual stores for them to visit.”

In addition to the new store openings in India, Cath Kidston has recently opened new international stores in Japan in Sendai, Sapporo and in December Kitasenju and the Middle East in Qatar and the UAE.

Cath Kidston also recently appointed Michael Engelhaupt as its first head of Latin America to lead expansion in the region.
