London Fashion Week designer Christopher Kane has opened his first store on Mount Street, in Mayfair, joining fellow designers Nicholas Kirkwood, Roland Mouret and Roksanda Ilincic.

Together with architect John Pawson, the 4,100 square foot store was designed by the designer himself and combines a mix of historical and current features. The ground floor of the store will offer women's wear, with accessories displays on neon perspex shelves and stands, and the basement houses more women's wear alongside of Christopher Kane's men's wear collection. "This is the first time we will be able to present the entire universe of what we do and interact directly with our customer, really getting to know and understand them," said Kane to Women's Wear Daily.

Kane added that he resonates and admires Pawson's simplistic style and work and that his team "instantly understood what I wanted to achieve with the store." The architect claims that one of the connecting links which exist throughout the designer's collections is their architectural feel, "a preoccupation with proportion, scale, geometry and construction detail."

Pawson noted that he feels inclination towards the designer's use of materials, patterns and texture to craft pieces that are "pristine and modern, but also very sensuous. Fashion is about emotional resonances as much as it is about the physical details of cloth, cut, silhouette and texture. The architecture — if you get it right — provides a context for these emotional resonances."

The debut flagship store is located next to Kirkwood's flagship unit at 6-7 Mount Street and it's opening will be officially celebrated with an opening party at the end of March.
