Department store chain Debenhams has raised 5,208 pounds for industry charity Retail Trust through a series of fundraising shopping events hosted in conjunction with Barclays Bank.

The private Debenhams ‘Summer Shopping Evenings’ took place across seven stores on June 2 and offered Barclays Premier customers exclusive previews, discounts, beauty demonstrations and goody bags, in addition to having the opportunity to learn about and support the Retail Trust.

“Retail Trust is delighted by the generosity shown by Barclays Premier shoppers,” said Retail Trust chief executive Richard Boland. “We would like to express thanks to the teams at Debenhams and Barclays for their kind donations and for hosting these exceptional events.”

The money raised will help to fund services and support for the 4.5 million people working in UK retail. The charity offers services including free counselling, debt advice, hardships grants, course-funding and retirement housing.
