Danish footwear brand Ecco, known for its comfortable, practical shoes, is looking to expand in the UK with a series of store openings.

In the last three years the footwear retailer has doubled the number of its shops to more than 40, and it is hoping to add another 25 in the UK over the next two years, according to reports in The Telegraph.

News of the expansion comes as the footwear brand relaunches its Oxford Street flagship in London, which sits opposite Selfridges. The brand has stated that it is planning new stores in Newcastle, Manchester, Bromley and Leeds as it looks to build on its strong sales growth in the country.

“The UK expansion in 2015 has created 70-80 new job this year in the UK,” David Butler, Ecco UK managing director told The Telegraph. “With our expansion objectives our hope is that with further discussion and negotiation within the market that we will continue with that trend during 2016 and 2017.”
