Bespoke British tailor English Cut, which was previously situated in Savile Row, has opened its first standalone store on Chiltern Street.

The made-to-measure and ready-to-wear tailor has secured a 605 square foot space on a five-year lease and will be located alongside other menswear boutiques on Chiltern Street including Trunk Clothiers, Hamilton and Hare, and Sunspel.

Found in 2001 by former Anderson and Sheppard’s head cutter, Thomas Mahon, English Cut, creates suits that are crafted entirely by hand in Great Britain, from drafting patterns in the traditional rock-of-eye method to sewing the suits from their workshops in Cumbria and London.

Commenting on the opening, Mahon said: “The English Cut philosophy is based on ‘expertise, authority and authenticity’ something that I believe resonates with the unique character of Chiltern Street. As one of London’s emerging menswear destination, we are excited to make Chiltern Street our new home in London.”

Philip Norris, head of retail at the Portman Estate added: “We are delighted to welcome English Cut to Chiltern Street. As a heritage brand that champions craftsmanship, style and tradition, English Cut will perfectly complement the existing menswear offer on the street.”

English Cut’s flagship store is located at 58 Chiltern Street, London.
