One of the largest department store redevelopments to take place outside of Central London is close to being finished as Fenwick Colchester prepares for its big reopening. Fenwick Colchester is set to hold its grand reopening on September 15, following its 35 million pound refurbishment which saw the store double its retail space.
Spanning over 120,000 square feet, the reopening sees the store bringing 70 new brands in, 20 of which are new to the area, including the likes of Paul Smith, Michael Kors and Bobbi Brown. The new brand additions will take the label total to over 600 brands, making Fenwick Colchester the largest and most extensive department store in the area. The redevelopment sees 75 percent of the store retail space dedicated to fashion, beauty and accessories and encompasses the new Beauty hall which spans over 10,000 square feet and includes a exclusive beauty lounge.
“The heart of Colchester’s High Street is a fitting location for our eleventh store,” said Mark Fenwick in a statement. “Together with its inspiring design and architecture, Fenwick Colchester reflects the full strength of our branded offer across fashion, beauty and accessories alongside home and furnishings. Combining Colchester’s heritage with the needs of the 21st century shopper, we are delighted by our new store and welcome new colleagues to the business.”
In addition, Fenwick Colchester will offer the biggest number of menswear brands under a single roof in the region, offering a total of 64 brands across fashion, formalwear and accessories, counting a total of 18 new brands to the store. It’s womenswear section will also welcome 15 new brands, including Eileen Fisher, Joseph Ribkoff and AG Jeans. In order to help customers find their way through the new store, Fenwick Colchester will also offer a Personal Shopping Service.
“We are really excited about the completion of this two and a half year redevelopment, and the launch of Fenwick Colchester this September,” commented Carl Milton, Managing Director of Fenwick Colchester. “This major redevelopment will be a great boost for the town, not only in its creation of 70 new jobs for the area, but also in providing Colchester with a more diverse shopping experience through greater choice.”
