Glasgow’s oldest sports retailer Greaves has opened the UK’s first House of Adidas outside of London.

The family-owned and run sports retailer, has recently undergone a 1 million pound development to its Glasgow flagship on Gordon Street, taking the store to almost 13,000 square foot.

The investment from Adidas to open its second House of Adidas concession came after a five-year deal was agreed with the independent retailer. The only other UK location is situated on the 5th floor of Harrods.

Commenting on the opening, Greaves managing director, Sandy Greaves said: “The new House of Adidas department is an incredible retail space. In terms of the range and experience it provides, this is the best of the best and you’d have to go to the fifth floor of Harrods to see anything like it.

“It’s great news for Greaves and our customers of course, but it’s also a real shot in the arm for the city of Glasgow that the world’s top sports brand would choose to partner with its oldest retailer, rather than open their own shop around the corner.”

The space houses Adidas’ innovative and technical performance products, as well as its Adidas Originals and Stella McCartney ranges. The area also includes digital mannequins as well as inspirational messaging from some of Adidas’ most brand ambassadors including Lionel Messi, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Caroline Wozniacki and Yohan Blake.
