American sportswear and footwear retailer Foot Locker has opened its largest store in Europe. It is located at Liverpool One, a shopping, residential and leisure complex in the English city.

“The new store is the ultimate destination for sneaker fans in Liverpool and a great platform for the city’s many creative talents. Liverpool has such an incredible cultural history and scene that it’s the perfect destination to lead the way for the future of Foot Locker stores”, said Nick Jones, Vice President and General Manager of Foot Locker Europe, in a statement.

The American retailer has commissioned Liverpool artist Stephen Chan to create a bespoke piece of artwork for the shop, which covers 21,000 square feet (1950 square meters) and two storeys. Chan has already collaborated with BBC, Coca-Cola and McDonalds, among other companies.

“I like to experiment and try to push my illustration style in to new areas and disciplines”, says Chan on his website. “It’s mostly character and narrative driven, often involve isometric landscapes and scenery."

Founded in 1879, Foot Locker is one of the largest corporations from the United States. It scored the 363rd place on this year’s Fortune 500’s list. Foot Locker currently operates 3,300 stores in 24 countries.
