Forever 21 departs Westfield Stratford store

US fashion retailer Forever 21 has shut down its store in Westfield Stratford City shopping center. The 67,940 square foot store, which first opened its doors in 2011, now stands empty.
The closure follows on from announcements made earlier this week that Forever 21 was offering 30 percent off all items in a bid to clear as much stock as possible prior to the official closing down date of May 1. Swedish fast-fashion retailer H&M is said to be eyeing up the location, according to Drapers. Forever 21 store closure in Westfield comes a month after the fashion retailer shut down its 65,000 square foot flagship store on Buchanan Street in Glasgow.
Although the US fashion retailer has a number of stores in the UK, the retailer has been downsizing its store portfolio as it struggles to compete against fast-fashion peers such as Primark, New Look and H&M. Forever 21 previously shut its store in Intu Trafford Center in Manchester and is said to be looking to scaling down its 50,0000 square foot store in Dublin as well as its 20,000 square foot store in Bluewater Kent.
