Gucci unveils new Milan hub ahead of MFW show

Gucci has finally unveiled its new head offices, located in the former Caproni aeronautics factory from 1915, after three years of work.

Located near the Linate international airport, the new offices, dubbed Gucci Hub, span 3780,000 square feet and bring together Gucci's showrooms, offices, catwalk show venue, photo and studio in a single location for the first time, reported WWD. The hub, which will house more than 250 employees, launch coincides with the Italian fashion house Spring/Summer 2017 show, taking place Wednesday afternoon during Milan Fashion Week. The new show venue is will be officially inaugurated next year with the fashion house's debut womenswear and menswear show - although its creative director Alessandro Michele already uses a mix of male and female models to present his collections. "The concept and design of our new Milan location symbolize every aspect of the new chapter that Gucci opened at the start of last year," said Marco Bizzarri, president and chief executive officer of Gucci to WWD.

"This highly contemporary space, rendered from within a historic building, will foster and nurture an open working environment that is at the core of a true learning organization. It will also become a place of cultural exchange, when we present the collections each season." Gucci first began renovating the factory in 2013, together with Milanese architecture firm Piuarch, who created a new concept while maintain the sites's current architecture. In the heart of the newly renovated complex stands a sex-story glass front office tower, which dark metal components contrast vividly with the rest of factories exposed red-brick original buildings.

The factory hangers, spanning 41,580 square feet and 21,600 square feet have been restored and serve as sites for future shows as Gucci has also constructed underground parking ofr up to 300 vehicles. The interiors of the new hub common areas and offices are said to reflect Michele's aesthetic vision for the brand and include unique, one of a kind pieces. The new office hun sits in line with Gucci's parent company, Kering's environmental, social and ethical strategy and is entirely sustainable, with a LEED Gold certification.

Gucci's Florence head office, which houses over 1,300 employees, will remain the "heart of our historic brand" and "the center of excellence for Gucci’s renowned craftsmanship and manufacturing,” said Bizzarri, "while our Rome-based design office represents the center of excellence for the company’s groundbreaking creativity."
