British men’s underwear and loungewear brand Hamilton and Hare has opened its first flagship store on Chiltern Street in London’s Marylebone.

The opening, follows its recent collaboration with British boxer Joe Calzaghe, which will be available in the new store, alongside the brand’s underwear, travelwear and leisurewear items.

The 830 square foot store will also double as a showroom for the brand’s global wholesale operation.

Hamilton and Hare was founded in 2012 by Olivia Francis, who spotted a gap in the market for well-fitting, good quality boxer shorts. The brand designs its products in London and uses small-scale producers in England and Portugal, as quality and fit are very important.

The brand is stocked in Selfridges, Fenwicks and the Conran Shop, as well as in independents including the Owl in Harrogate and the Hub in London, and online at Thread.com.

Commenting on the opening, Francis said: “As an established menswear destination in Marylebone, Chiltern Street is the perfect location for Hamilton and Hare’s first standalone store. The street has an excellent neighbourhood feel, and we are excited to be joining this community of designers and retailers.”

Other menswear shops on Chiltern Street include John Simons, Club Monaco, Pauline Burrows and Grey Flannel.

Philip Norris, head of retail at The Portman Estate, which leased the space, added: “We are delighted that Hamilton and Hare has chosen Chiltern Street as the destination for its flagship store.

“Chiltern Street has established itself as a destination for outstanding independent shopping, with a varied premium menswear offer. Complementing the existing retailers, Hamilton and Hare will bring something new and unique to the street.”
