The group of Dutch entrepreneurs and financial investors behind the new Haussmann boutique department brand has decided on Amsterdam for their first store location, claiming that Dutch shoppers are calling out for a “truly high-end retail service offering.”

The 75,000 square foot store, which will open in the second half of 2016, will be located in the heart of the city's Rokin district, next to Marks and Spencer’s future flagship store, and near to the subway entrance of Noord-Zuidlijn, which opens in 2017.

As well as housing luxury fashion and leisure departments, the department store will also offer a fresh food market and a fine dining restaurant on the top floor offering panoramic views of Amsterdam.

Frans van der Kraan, founding partner and CEO of Haussmann said: “Haussmann's mission is to redefine luxury retail by setting a new standard on good living and taste, which goes far beyond what today's conventional department stores are offering.

“Haussmann strives to truly touch and inspire its customers through a combination of high quality products (food and non-food), innovative service concepts and the use of state-of-the-art technology.”

The group states that Amsterdam was chosen as the right city to place its first store as it has become an “attractive city for the young and successful cosmopolitan citizen”, as well as a popular destination for international overnight visitors, with Amsterdam being the fastest growing destination after London.
