Luxury British department store Harvey Nichols has unveiled North Wind - an exclusive installation celebrating Scandinavian menswear, together in partnership with CIFF.
Located in Harvey Nichols London department store concept space, Project 109, North Wind shares CIFF vision of the modern Scandinavian male through a curated edit of menswear, art, gastronomy, design and lifestyle objects. Part trade fair, part art exhibition and pop-up, the installation will offer products directly to the consumers.
CIFF teams up with Harvey Nichols for 'North Wind' concept store
The new concept, which has been led under the direction of Kristian W. Andersen Director and Creative Director for CIFF, is set to run for seven weeks and will offer three distinct phases. As part of North Wind, Project 109 has been designed to reflect the modern Scandinavian man’s lifestyle, featuring everything he uses from the bike he rides to the bed sheets he sleeps in.
A number of Scandinavian brands and products will be included in the concept store, covering a range of price points from everyday fashion, accessories and grooming items. Brands include Newline Halo, Tonsure, Martin Asbjørn, Tom Woods, Willy Chavarria, Han Kjøbenhaven and Raaw in a Jar. In addition, the concept will also feature a range of larger luxury items, such as the iconic “Arctander Chair” by Paustian, originally designed in 1944 by architect Philip Arctander and re-launched this summer.
“At CIFF, we believe that the consumer is now the driving force behind many trends, often ahead of the professionals in our industry. “North Wind” is a way for us to bring directly to the Harvey Nichols customer both emerging and established design talent we believe are worthy of their attention,” commented Kristian W. Andersen Director and Creative Director, CIFF in a statement. “Partnering with Harvey Nichols, one of the world’s most dynamic and directional retailers, is also a way for us to inspire our community and challenge them to look ahead to the future.”
In addition, as part of the gastronomy offering North Wind will be collaborating with Frederik Bille Brah, who is said to be one of Copenhagen’s most talked about up-and-coming young chefs, and founder of Atelier September and restaurant Havfruen. The young chef will be creating signature dishes for a special meal, taking place on November 3 in the Wallpaper Bar + Kitchen in Project 109.
The first phase of North Wind, which began October 6 and will run until October 21, aims to take a closer look at the ‘Modern Viking’ and what it means to be a Scandinavian male today. The second phase, which will run from October 22 to 2 November, is set to look deeper into ‘Scandis Behind Closed Doors’; which looks at how men dress their home and interior design.
The last phase will be opened in the run up to Christmas from November 3 to 27 and aims to introduce the Harvey Nichols customer to the concept of “hygge”; a deeply ingrained way of culture in Scandinavia. Named ‘A Little Hygge For The Holidays’ this final concept is set to shine a light on all the little and not so little things Scandinavian’s do for themselves and for each other.
“We are so proud to welcome CIFF into Harvey Nichols and showcase the most dynamic and innovative sales platforms in store,” said Anita Barr, Group Fashion Buying Director, Harvey Nichols. “The Project 109 concept is the perfect platform to host the ‘North Wind’ installation and will showcase a variety of categories not usually available from our store, it epitomises what our menswear destination stands for and will not only appeal to our existing customer but will pull a new consumer into the space too.”
North Wind will run from October 6 to November 27, at Project 109, Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge.
