British department store group John Lewis has begun its search for over 3,500 seasonal workers to fill a number of temporary retail and distribution roles across its business, ahead of what it expects to be its “busiest shopping period of the year.”

John Lewis is currently recruiting new employees across various department which tend to be the busiest over the festive season, such as its Christmas Shop, gift food, electrical and home technology sections. In addition, John Lewis is also looking to fill stock manager and distribution roles to support its retail branches as well as its online store.

The British department store group stressed that its recruitment team is committed to training all temporary staff ensure they offer the highest level of customer service. In addition, John Lewis highlights that a temporary seasonal role can led to permanent roles within its company, citing Dino Rocos, its Operations Director as an example.

“I certainly didn't think when I joined John Lewis as a Christmas temp that I would still be here forty years later as a board director,” said Rocos in a statement. “The business provided me with the support to help develop my skills and knowledge from the very beginning…It quickly became clear to me that I was developing a fascination for retail, so accepting an offer for a permanent job at the end of my contract was an easy decision.”
