Argentinian polo lifestyle and clothing brand La Martina has opened its first UK flagship store at The Crown Estate and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan’s 100 million pound St James's Gateway redevelopment in London.

The 2,960 square foot store houses La Martina’s full range of polo inspired menswear, womenswear and accessories, including its collections for the Guards Polo Club in Surrey and Maserati.

Founded in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1985, La Martina is renowned for its casual lifestyle clothing as well as for its technical polo equipment, and the brand currently supplies clothing to the Polo clubs of Harvard, Yale, Oxford and Cambridge, as well as the England national team.

As well as its flagship store, La Martina has two other points of sale in the UK, a concession within The Guards Polo Club Store, which opened eight years ago, and in Harrods.

Enrico Roselli, chief executive of La Martina Europe SA, said: “After opening in Guards Polo Club eight years ago, our current strategy is aimed at developing a process to embrace the style and history of traditional English tailoring. St James’s international reputation for high quality, bespoke clothing made our decision to choose the area for our London debut an easy one.”

La Martina joins other fashion brands including Barbour, Osprey, Sunspel and Tiger of Sweden, which also chose St James’s Gateway as its first UK location.
