Spanish fashion retailer Mango has integrated a new scan and shop function to its iOS app to boost mobile sales, which currently account for 30 percent of the retailer's global online turnover of 124 million euros (97.7 million pounds).
The new function uses image recognition and augmented reality technology to identify Mango products in catalogs and advertisements. Users are then able to purchase the items directly through the app or see which stores have the item for sale. Mango aims to implement the technology in its Android-app as well at a later time.
The new function is compatible with the full range of Mango's collections, including Mango Men, Mango Kids and Mango Performance. The Spanish retailer is currently present online in 64 countries and plans to expand into several new markets over the next year, including Australia, central and South American countries as well as Asia.
Approximately 1.6 million users around the world have downloaded the latest version of the retailer's app.
