Less than a week after rumours of Marco Zanini's pending departure from Schiaparelli began circulating, the couture house has confirmed his exit from the firm.

Zanini, who used to design the ready-to-wear collection for fashion house Rochas before moving to Schiaparelli in September 2013, had said that Schiaparalli was 'not exactly his fit' and was said to be unhappy.

Schiaparelli, which is owned by Diego Della Valle of the Tod's Group, said that the name of its new creative director would soon be revealed. "The House of Schiaparelli is looking towards its future while transcending the aesthetic codes created by Elsa Schiaparelli. It follows a dynamic where a contemporary spirit meets its founder's daring personality," the label said.

Earlier this year, Zanini confessed to Style.com that he was 'so afraid about touching the legacy, because camp is a trap that is always around the corner with Schiaparelli'. He said that in order to succeed he could 'not avoid going there, so why don't I go there full-on?' His interpretation, which he presented in only two collections, was criticized by some, while his work at Rochas, where he worked for five years, was highly praised.
